Our Utilities team in the Engineering Department are proud contributors to the growth of our community. We put all our energies into providing peace of mind through the delivery of waste management, stormwater, wastewater and water supply services. We are currently looking for the right person to take on the role of Engineer in the water/wastewater team - could this be you?
In this specialist role, based in Richmond, you'll be assisting the Team Leader with the management of Council's urban water assets. The primary focus of this role will be on the urban water networks but may also involve work in wastewater when required to meet team workloads. You will be responsible for the day to day water reticulation management, and implementing and coordinating programmes for network modelling, leak detection and backflow prevention. You'll also be responsible for advising the Activity Planning team and implementing the Water Supply Activity Management Plan.
You'll have a degree in Engineering and at least five years prior experience in a local government engineering role, or NZDE and at least ten years prior experience in a local government engineering role. You'll demonstrate solid project management skills and a financial understanding of accounting for infrastructure assets. You'll also have experience in the provision of local authority utilities services.
While applicants with significant prior experience are preferred, we would be happy to consider applications where you have a degree in engineering or NZDE but fewer years' experience and develop you in the role.
We offer a friendly and supportive working environment that will allow you to further your professional career and we have an emphasis on work-life balance with flexible/remote working options available. When you live in a beautiful place like Tasman then you'll want time to enjoy it!
