About the Role

Are you passionate about high‑quality data, property information, and making a real difference for your community? We're looking for a Property Information Officer to play a key role in managing and enhancing Council's land and property information systems.

This is a great opportunity for an experienced property or data professional who enjoys working with complex datasets, improving processes, and supporting statutory services such as Land Information Memoranda (LIMs).

As a Property Information Officer, you will have a key operational and advisory role in the management of Council's property and land information datasets. You'll ensure information is accurate, accessible, and fit for purpose, while contributing to continuous improvement and digital solutions.

You'll also support the preparation and quality assurance of LIMs, manage third‑party datasets, and provide expert advice across Council on property and land information matters.

What You'll Bring

  • A Level 4 qualification in conveyancing, quantity survey/construction, legal executive, real estate or another relevant field
  • A minimum of three years' experience working in a similar database or electronic record management systems role within any of the following industries: building, construction trade, Local Government or other similar large organisation.
  • An in‑depth understanding of data management principles and best practice
  • High digital literacy with strong database and reporting skills
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation, including the Building Act, LGOIMA, RMA, Privacy Act, and related regulations
  • Experience with GIS systems (desirable)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail, sound judgement, and the ability to work accurately under time pressure
  • A collaborative approach and commitment to continuous improvement
  • An understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and Tikanga Māori, and a commitment to working in a culturally inclusive way

What to expect after you apply

Once the vacancy closes you'll be contacted within 7 days as to whether or not your application has been successful.  If you've been shortlisted for an interview, you'll be contacted by one of the People & Wellbeing team to arrange a time to come in and meet with some of the team. 

We typically only do one interview, however depending on the seniority of the role or the role itself, we sometimes require two interviews.  For mid-senior level and team leader/manager roles, you may also be required to undertake psychometric testing.

In your interview, there will be a member of the People & Wellbeing team, the Hiring Manager and either their Manager or one of the senior member's of their team.  Our interview questions are predominantly behavioural and skills-based.

Summer Student Internships

Every year we employ a number of Summer Students across the Council to work for a period of 12-16 weeks over the summer months (mid-November to February). This is a great opportunity to gain work experience in your field of study, advertising begins early July, All applications are to be submitted via our website in July.
