About the role:
This is a new, unique role created in our Environmental Science section where you could make a practical difference to the councils' goals across this area.
As a key member of the Environmental Data & Monitoring section, the role provides support to a team of environmental science practitioners working across land, water, and air domains as well as in Biodiversity and Natural Hazards. The position purpose is to streamline the maintenance of our current applications and to work with our IT team to drive a roadmap and create a pipeline of improvements to steadily enhance the digital tools available to our scientists and data managers.
We are looking for an experienced product owner who can provide the link between our science group needs and the organisations IT development pathway. You will be gathering and collating the requirements of science stakeholders and actively participating with the IT development team to build applications to support our science staff. The outcome will be to create efficiencies and enhance delivery of accurate information to our community in an effective manner.
About you:
The successful applicant will have the ability to converse with a wide range of people and listen effectively to ensure outcomes are fit for purpose. Excellent relationship and stakeholder management skills are also required. You will have an agile mindset and demonstrable experience in product ownership and/or the development process.
Our ideal candidate will come to us with a tertiary qualification in computer science or information technology. Alternatively, a science qualification coupled with applicable IT related work experience would also suit. This would encompass experience with defining requirements, assisting with implementation and managing and prioritising the backlog.
