About the role

We are on the hunt for an Information Management professional with strong digital literacy skills to join us. In this role, you will get to work with all areas and levels of the organisation, so building and maintaining great working relationships is a must.

You will play a key role in championing the importance of information management and delivering training sessions to new staff, therefore you need to be able to talk to anyone and everyone in a way that it is interesting and easy to understand.

Your expertise in electronic documents and records management will be invaluable in supporting the Programme Leader - Information Management. You'll play a key role in promoting best practices in Information Management and enhancing the skills and capabilities of Council staff. Additionally, you'll provide guidance, training, and support to ensure effective use of the Council's SharePoint platform, helping teams stay organised and on track.

Due to the nature of this role and working with physical files, the successful candidate would be required to be onsite.

About you

You will need to have experience with managing hard-copy records and archives as this is also a key part of the role, which means you will need be physically fit in terms of lifting and shifting boxes. You must have a valid driver's licence as you will be required to drive a council vehicle during work hours. You will also have the knowledge to ensure that our processes and procedures comply with all relevant statutory requirements.

What to expect after you apply

Once the vacancy closes you'll be contacted within 7 days as to whether or not your application has been successful.  If you've been shortlisted for an interview, you'll be contacted by one of the People & Wellbeing team to arrange a time to come in and meet with some of the team. 

We typically only do one interview, however depending on the seniority of the role or the role itself, we sometimes require two interviews.  For mid-senior level and team leader/manager roles, you may also be required to undertake psychometric testing.

In your interview, there will be a member of the People & Wellbeing team, the Hiring Manager and either their Manager or one of the senior member's of their team.  Our interview questions are predominantly behavioural and skills-based.

Summer Student Internships

Every year we employ a number of Summer Students across the Council to work for a period of 12-16 weeks over the summer months (mid-November to February). This is a great opportunity to gain work experience in your field of study. Recruitment begins in mid June. All applications must be submitted online via our Vacancies page between mid-June and mid-July each year.

We typically have vacancies in Engineering, Environmental Information (Hydrology, Resource Science and Biosecurity), Information Services and Regulatory (Compliance Monitoring).
