Want to add value every day? The Tasman region is thriving and we require an experienced administrator to complement our very busy Building Support team to ensure our region develops as safely and swiftly as possible!

Tasman District Council is an accredited Building Consent Authority, responsible for processing around 1500 residential and commercial building consents annually. As a Building Support Officer, you will be an administration professional, able to support the timely processing of building consents. This includes receiving and checking a variety of building applications, managing customer enquiries, invoicing, checking documentation, and reviewing and issuing building and legislative documents.

Our ideal candidate will have the following skills and attributes:

  • Solid administrative experience with demonstrated initiative and self-direction.
  • A high standard of attention to detail with great time management skills.
  • A strong customer focus and a motivational and collaborative team member.
  • Excellent digital literacy and practical knowledge of Microsoft 365,databases and cloud systems.
  • Experience in an environment where you are required to work with relevant regulations, statutes and procedures.
  • Some understanding of the building consenting process and/or building industry is desirable.

Summer Student Internships

Every year we employ a number of Summer Students across the Council, to work for a period of 12-16 weeks over the summer months (mid-November to February). Recruitment for Summer Students begins in early July. All applications must be submitted online via the vacancy on our Vacancies page between 1 July and 31 July each year.
