The Tasman District Council is a unitary authority, its consenting function covers subdivision, land use and natural resource consent processes. It's a developing region and we are seeking planners to join our enthusiastic and passionate consenting team. The variety of consenting work includes coastal, water, large housing developments and infrastructure and with the challenges of housing needs and climate change, this is an exciting environment to work in.

While our perfect candidate will have a strong resource consent processing background, including a good working knowledge of the Resource Management Act and district planning rules, we are also interested to hear from those who are still building their knowledge. You will need to have strong communication and interpersonal skills which will be pivotal to your success as you engage with both internal and external stakeholders of all levels and walks of life. You will also possess the analytical and judgement skills necessary to secure the best planning outcomes and deliver effective problem solving for the local community while understanding the bigger picture.

Summer Student Internships

Every year we employ a number of Summer Students across the Council, to work for a period of 12-16 weeks over the summer months (mid-November to February). Recruitment for Summer Students begins in early July. All applications must be submitted online via the vacancy on our Vacancies page between 1 July and 31 July each year.
