Based in Richmond and reporting to the Team Leader - Community Policy, this fixed-term position (until 30 September 2022) will play a major role in the development of long term, forward-thinking policies and strategic planning documents to fulfil Council's Vision.

Utilising your policy/strategic planning knowledge and experience, and sound working knowledge of the relevant statutes and regulations pertaining to the strategic and community planning functions of Council, you'll focus on the broader policy areas, the Local Climate Risk Assessment, and work on the Long Term Plan, Annual Plan and Annual Report while in this role.

Your excellent communication and relationship management skills will be essential to share ideas and collaborate with staff within the Council, public, business and voluntary sectors. You'll also demonstrate sound judgement on political issues and decision-making, and the ability to work under tight time constraints.

Summer Student Internships

Every year we employ a number of Summer Students across the Council, to work for a period of 12-16 weeks over the summer months (mid-November to February). Recruitment for Summer Students begins in early July. All applications must be submitted online via the vacancy on our Vacancies page between 1 July and 31 July each year.
